This is an exact replica of the M7 bayonet issued by the US military during the Vietnam War to fit M-16 rifles. This bayonet does not fit the M16. The hollow plastic 'split handle' is held on with two tiny screws, so there is some play. The blade is stainless steel, marked "U.S.M16" (as shown in images) but with "STAINLESS CHINA" stamped deep in the same way on the other side, so keep that in mind. But no worse than some of the early plastic/bake-lite US issue materials. Will be buying another for my Carbon15. But there are problem guns with no easy answer.  What about a short-barreled AR pistol, or a dissipator style rifle with a front sight base all the way out towards the muzzle?  Some companies make a short bayonet handle to fit these firearms, but they look flimsy to me.  I suggest you get a decent bayonet and cut it down to fit if you have the skills.  Another problem is a “modern” free-floated AR rifle with no front sight base or a bayonet lug. I am buying a couple more. The sheath is what you would expect to get with a ten dollar knife. For the price, it is definitely worth the effor. When I tried to fit the thing on my Mossberg I found that while the actual ring part of it fit near perfectly over the magazine tube cap, the actual.. back part which I Googled and is called a "Mortise Slot" was too thin to fit onto the lug, but I took a cheap file to it, and with around 10 minutes of scraping it fit over the lug just fine with an acceptable amount of wobble. so concluding as a knife h**l of a deal , as a bayonet well I'll be fair and say it's a possible deal/ steal depending on fitment ? I've seen a few reviews on this item and after I received mine 2 days before I expected I understand what problems some people may have. Won't fit on a rifle without some modification. The ring that fits over the barrel is not large enough in diameter. I have not bayonetted anything or anybody yet to test it. It feels like cheap plastic. The I.D. As for the actual crossguard, it's held in place by a pretty measly looking spotweld, but as said, this thing survived getting shaken and banged around on the end of my shotgun, so it seems to do the job. Great fixed blade knife, unbeatable price. I tried it on 3 different uppers and it fit none. Buy it if your disappointed, your way too fussy! A solid knife and great shipping. Need to open up the hole to clear your flash hider as others state. Makes a nice display piece. The fully functional piece is equipped with a 9" full tang stainless steel blade with a heavy blood groove. This Chinese bayonet = good for you / bad for the American industrial effort. It snapped on the bayonet lug just fine after enlarging the inside diameter. I would buy another if I had a use for one. They are very heavy duty. I was surprised at how sharp the knife was, expected it not to be sharp at all but it is. Also, the springs on this knife's bayonet mount release are extremely weak compared to an issue M8. Literally cut the hairs on my arm! I bought them for my fellow veterans who served during the Vietnam War. Most of the time I’m at home with my family. From the revolutionary war to WWI and II. I also decided to take the handle apart (fastened with two male and two female screws that meet through holes in the tang) and to my surprise the inside of this thing isn't some lousy rat-tail, it's actually identical to the anatomy of a proper M7 Bayonet. Unfortunately, this bayonet will not fit on my AR-15 because the hole in the hand guard for mounting it is too small to pass over the flash hider on the end of the barrel. If you have a Different AR-15 it may fit perfectly on yours who knows ? At this point, I'm not sure how to remedy this problem. A very good buy for $9.99, and outclases the original bayonet by far. But can your rifle take a bayonet?  Maybe not, even if it has a bayonet lug.  If you have an AK, your rifle will more than likely take an AK pattern bayonet if it has the lug.  If you have a 20-inch rifle or a 16-inch midlength AR-15 with a bayonet lug, it will take an AR-pattern bayonet.  But many older 16-inch AR rifles have the shorter carbine gas system, and although they have a bayonet lug, a bayonet will not fit properly.  The end of the muzzle is too far from the lug.  The bayonet will go on the rifle, but the seating ring will sit on the thinner barrel rather than be held properly by the flash hider.
